Partial Lane Closures On Washington Avenue At Jefferson Avenue Due To Sewer Collapse

Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) crews are responding to a partial sewer collapse on Washington Avenue at Jefferson Avenue.

Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) crews are responding to a partial sewer collapse on Washington Avenue at Jefferson Avenue. The westbound lanes on Washington Avenue east of Jefferson Avenue will need to be closed. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route until repairs are complete.

The cause of the 150-year old sewer’s collapse is unknown at this time. The sewer measures 6 feet by 4 feet and is approximately 20 to 25 feet below ground. No disruptions to sewer service have been reported and service to surrounding areas should continue normally.
