Peak Performance Award 2017

MSD Earns Top National Honor for Environmental Compliance for Fifth Consecutive Year

All seven MSD treatment plants receive Peak Performance Awards, including highest honors for 10 years of perfect environmental compliance at Fenton and Lower Meramec.

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) has been awarded top environmental honors from The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), who recognized all seven MSD treatment plants with Peak Performance Awards for excellence in compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit limits in 2017.

MSD’s Fenton and Lower Meramec treatment plants received NACWA’s highest honor, the Platinum Peak Performance Award, for the fifth year in a row.  This award is exclusive to treatment plants with at least five years of 100 percent NPDES permit compliance- meaning Fenton and Lower Meramec have had a consecutively perfect score since 2007.

Gold Peak Performance Awards were granted to Grand Glaize and Missouri River treatment plants, for attaining 100 percent NPDES permit compliance in the previous calendar year.  Bissell, Coldwater Creek, and Lemay treatment plants received the Silver Peak Performance Award, for not exceeding five NPDES permit violations in 2017.

MSD also earned Excellence in Management Platinum Recognition, an honor that celebrates MSD’s commitment to sustainable, successful programs that exemplify the attributes of an effectively managed utility.

The District received a formal presentation of its Peak Performance Awards and the Excellence in Management Platinum Recognition at a ceremony in July at NACWA’s Utility Leadership Conference in Boston, MA.
