Beginning at 9 am on Monday, February 9th, all lanes of McCausland Avenue will be shut down between Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street so that contracted crews with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) can complete construction on a sewer line.
Construction crews will be installing a 90-inch sewer pipe under the area where McCausland Avenue and Southwest Avenue intersect, extending south to Arsenal Street.
The construction is a part of an ongoing effort to relieve building backups due to the overcharged combined sewers in the City of St. Louis, Maplewood, and Richmond Heights. This sewer is a part of the River Des Peres sewer system.
All lanes of McCausland Avenue are expected to reopen the week of February 23rd at the earliest. Signs will be placed in the area guiding drivers to alternate routes. Residents in the affected area have been notified of the upcoming closures. All lanes of Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street will remain open.
