The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) received several awards including Peak Performance Awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) received several awards including Peak Performance Awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).
The Peak Performance Awards program presented by NACWA, recognizes public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records in the 2015 calendar year.
The Fenton and Lower Meramec wastewater treatment plants received Platinum Awards for maintaining a perfect compliance record for seven consecutive years. Gold Awards went to Coldwater Creek, Grand Glaize, Lemay, and the Missouri River treatment plants for achieving 100 percent compliance with their NPDES permit for an entire calendar year. The Bissell treatment plant was given the Silver Award, recognizing facilities that have received no more than five NPDES permit violations per calendar year.
The Finance Department of MSD continued their winning streak receiving the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation award for the 29th consecutive year and the Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 28th consecutive year. The Popular Annual Financial Report was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for the fourth year in a row.
In addition to those recent awards, MSD received the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Missouri’s Keystone Award for the Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant Secondary Expansion and Disinfection. The project was cited by AGC for increasing the capacity of a plant that serves over 400,000 people every day. The improvements to this facility will benefit countless downstream communities for decades to come. The Keystone award honors the building of facilities that supports and enhances the quality of life. A Keystone award recipient exhibits excellence in providing solutions to unique obstacles and challenges. The same project received the Project of the Year Award from The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) St. Louis Section. ASCE presents the award to an engineering project within the St. Louis region that demonstrates the greatest engineering skills, and represents the greatest contribution to civil engineering progress, and mankind.
The District was also recognized by the Mechanical Contractor Association of Eastern Missouri for outstanding mechanical contracting work on both the Coldwater Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Disinfection project and the Lemay Pump Station No. 1 and No.2 Redundant Force Main project.
