SLDC advances plan to demolish tornado-damaged structures, some privately owned

The Land Clearance For Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) on Tuesday passed a measure allowing an already-existing demolition program, which uses funds from the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD), to demolish tornado-impacted structures. An employee at the city’s development arm, St. Louis Development Corp., which staffs LCRA, said at Tuesday’s LCRA board meeting that it would apply only to residential structures. The resolution said it had identified 40 structures for demolition.
