UPDATE: Stretch of McCausland Avenue to Remain Closed Through Next Week

All lanes of McCausland Avenue, between Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street, are expected to remain closed until Monday, March 2nd. The contracted crews with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) continue to install a series of 90-inch storm sewer pipe near the intersection of McCausland Avenue and Southwest Avenue.

MSD crews had anticipated reopening the closed section of McCausland Avenue by Monday, February 23rd, but with the recent inclement weather and cold temperatures in the St. Louis region the completion date has been delayed by a week. The MSD crews have continued to work through the week and weekends on all aspects that are not impacted by the weather.

Digital traffic signs remain in the area guiding drivers to alternate routes. All lanes of Southwest Avenue and Arsenal Street will remain open.

The construction is a part of an ongoing effort to relieve building backups due to the overcharged combined sewers in the City of St. Louis, Maplewood, and Richmond Heights. This sewer is a part of the River Des Peres sewer system.
