Glenfield Sanitary Relief (12264)

Glenfield Sanitary Relief (Watson Woods Ct to S Lindbergh Blvd) (12264)

As part of a long-term effort to reduce basement backups and sewer overflows, MSD Project Clear is designing a project to replace undersized sewers in the City of Sunset Hills near South Lindbergh Boulevard and East Watson Road.

This project is estimated to begin construction in May 2023.

About the Project

Project Map

What is the goal of this project?

MSD Project Clear is investing approximately $2 million to design this project to increase the size and depth of the existing sewer to increase the capacity of wastewater the pipes in this neighborhood can handle.  This will alleviate existing problems resulting from undersized sewers, like basement backups and wastewater overflows.

Project Facts

  • Construction is estimated to begin May 2023.
  • MSD Project Clear will replace approximately 2,600 feet of wastewater sewer.
  • The pipe size will increase to between 8 to 15-inches in diameter allowing a larger amount of wastewater to flow through the system.

What can residents expect?

Type of Construction:

Like with any type of construction, residents can expect to see and hear heavy equipment during the sewer excavation process.

The majority of this project will be constructed by a method known as “open-cut construction”. This means that crews will dig through the surface of the ground to excavate and install pipe.

Traffic Impact:

As a part of this project, MSD Project Clear does expect traffic impacts to roads in this area. Construction near and on Watson Woods Court, Eggeling Lane, Woodpark Drive, Woodfox Drive, and South Lindbergh Boulevard will require temporary lane closures. There will also be impacts to area parking lots at 3808, 3778, 3826, 3844, and 3811 South Lindbergh Boulevard.

MSD Project Clear does expect times of temporarily reduced access for residential and commercial properties throughout the construction of this project. However, these timings will be temporary and the Contractor will work to minimize these instances.

Restoration:

After all new sewer pipes are installed, the Contractor will restore the construction site according to all District and local requirements. This could include sodding any disturbed areas, replacing disturbed pavement, reinstalling fences, etc.

What is the timeline?

This is the current tentative project schedule. This is subject to change based on a variety of factors including weather.

  • Project design completion: Fall 2021
  • Easement acquisition completion: Fall 2022
  • Estimated construction start: May 2023
  • Estimated project duration: 24 months

FAQs

In accordance with MSD policy, the Contractor will restore all disturbed surfaces to previous or better conditions.

The Contractor will be committed to minimizing any instances of access issues to residential or commercial property.
