MSD Human Resources

We are a professional services team dedicated to helping MSD, its departments, and employees enhance skills, performance, and work satisfaction.

The employees of Human Resources work in four divisions: Administration, Benefits & Compensation, Insurance & Safety, and Talent Development. Our mission is fourfold:

  • Support MSD in achieving the goals established in the Strategic Business and Operating Plan
  • Hire top talent and support these employees by providing a learning- and business-oriented culture founded in accountability
  • Ensure equal employee treatment and recognition
  • Manage MSD’s safety and security programs and liability insurance

We’re proud to support the important work of MSD by administering and ensuring proper fiscal management for all employee benefits programs, including group medical, dental, life, AD&D, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick leave, Workers Compensation, and benefit-related policies. Human Resources provides the administration for MSD’s Pension, Defined Contribution, and Deferred Compensation plans.

We ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with the law, process employment taxes, prepare employee W-2s, salary increases, deductions, third-party payments, safety equipment reimbursements, and generate and analyze internal and external reports. The Insurance & Safety team develops, implements, and monitors risk management programs to minimize losses due to forces of nature, mechanical failure, illness, or human error.

The Talent Development team works with all MSD departments to assess our readiness to meet our Strategic Business Plan goals by providing coaching and consulting on management and performance issues. We design and deliver technical and soft skills training; assist with succession management and career development; provide career counseling and professional development opportunities; recruit qualified candidates; help craft accurate job descriptions and performance criteria; and more.
